Physical Education at Caister
Physical Education at Caister Academy
Sport is an integral part of life at Caister Academy. The department prides itself on the fact that there is a sport for everyone; from individuals and team players aiming for excellence to clubs for those who play for the love of sport. We believe in the philosophy of ‘Sport for all’, with enjoyment playing a key role in this ethos.
Through delivery of the Physical Education curriculum, we provide students with a progressive programme which provides new challenges and experiences each year that help to promote a healthy, active lifestyle and a lifelong enthusiasm and love for sport.
Alongside curriculum delivery, students are actively encouraged to develop their sporting ability through the range of enrichment opportunities we provide at Caister Academy. As well as weekly sporting clubs in a variety of sports, these opportunities include overseas football tours to Holland, kayaking taster sessions at Whitlingham and learning to ski at Trowse.
The school is an active participant in district and county competitions in a range of sports including football, netball, cross county and athletics. As part of the Creative Education Trust, students also get the opportunity to represent the school and demonstrate their sporting prowess at the annual CET Day of Sport.
The department values the opinions of all students and offers the opportunity to join the Sports Council, who work closely with the teaching staff to ensure sport is enjoyed by all.
