Careers

Whether going on to a great university, securing an apprenticeship, or entering the workplace, we want every young person who leaves a Creative Education Trust school to have real choices in life. That is why, as well as academic excellence, we seek to ensure that we provide the best possible careers education support and guidance and unique extra-curricular opportunities for every student to discover what else they are good at.

We have a dedicated team who support the pupils throughout their time at Caister Academy and provide many opportunities to encounter employers and training and education providers both in and out of the classroom.

How the school measures and assesses the impact of the careers programme on pupils

  • Through Termly Pupil Voice
  • Through anaylsed data of log interactions through unifrog
  • Each Creative Education Trust school will regularly review their careers provision using the Compass Tool.
  • Caister Academy also works alongside New Anglia Careers Hub to analyse impact and next steps.
  • On behalf of its member schools, Creative Education Trust has annual agreements with Future First to manage the electronic platform for the alumni network and deliver careers events in schools; and with Unifrog to provide careers information, case studies, employer and university interviews and webinars and advice to ease students’ access to their next learning provider.

Student Information

All students at Caister Academy have been issued login credentials for the platform Unifrog. Via Unifrog, students can access career information, gather an insight into the labour market, partake in tasks to develop their understanding of their interests and investigate career paths most suited to them. Students' Unifrog activity is stored and can be used for securing work experience placements, suitable opportunities to support their identified interests and applying for Post-16 options.

In Senior Year, students will use the platform Help You Choose to look through the range of Post-16 options available and apply for their desired Post-16 destination. This is supported through Personal Learning Time, our one-to-one Careers guidance meetings and Tutor Time.

Information for Staff

Teachers play a vital part in the delivery of the Careers programme designed by our Careers Team. Students will always look to you for guidance along their school journey, which will include their next steps and career pathways.

In order to support our staff, we have provided some useful guidance here about what you will be asked to deliver, what are the Gatsby Benchmarks and guides to help you use Unifrog, so you can trust that you are passing on relevant and up-to-date information relating to Careers to guide any conversations with students either in passing or within your teaching.

Support is always available from the careers team should you need it. Don’t hesitate to ask for our support: Careers Lead Sarah.sharpe@caisteracademy.org.uk
